The Mick Young Scholarship Trust. Scholarship Application Process
The educational institutions who administer the process advertise the availability of MYST scholarships. The applicant completes a scholarship application form which is then assessed by the education facility. If the criteria are met, the make up and amount of the scholarship is agreed and submitted to MYST for approval.
Often a scholarship, even if it just fills an immediate financial gap, makes the difference that helps a recipient achieve their education goal. Scholarships range from as little as $500, to cover transport, child care, text books or software. Small items in the scheme of things, but they could be the crucial and uplifting factor that makes education a reality.
Enquiries About Scholarships
Enquiries should be made directly to the Student Support unit at each participating educational institution. You can download the pdf list of affiliated colleges. Further enquiries should be made to Brian Twomey, Scholarship Marketing Officer at MYST.
The Trust depends heavily on dedicated and caring TAFE administrators across the country. April Clarke and Ann Rice at Mount Druitt College are typical of the administrators who supply that important helping hand. They recall "we have been moved to tears reading about events which have shaped these applicants’ lives. What we all need to understand is that although the amount of the scholarship that we may award may appear to be small, this amount of money would be necessary to complete their course. The Mick Young Scholarship has a lasting effect on all our recipients and it even extends to their family members. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students. Our College Director always encourages our students to ‘Live their Dream’ and the Mick Young Scholarship assists our students in doing just that”
